Art has more than 30 years of professional experience in the publishing industry. Art won the Pulitzer Prize as a reporter for the Philadelphia Inquirer
and has received numerous accolades and awards for his work in the publishing world and business community including the Ben Franklin Award for publishing excellence. He has
owned and managed over 50 newspapers in his career, and holds a BA from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from the Wharton
School
Tom Kenney, President
Tom’s mobile industry experience dates back to 1994 as an early employee at start-up mobile carrier GO! Communications, a spin-out from MCI. Prior to Verve, he was a venture capitalist with Blue Run Ventures, formerly Nokia Venture Partners, for over six years. While at BRV, Tom was a contributing principal on many investments, including PayPal (sold to eBay), eVoice (sold to AOL), MongoMusic (sold to Microsoft), and Lightningcast (sold to AOL). Prior to Blue Run Ventures, Tom spent several years working in Nokia Corporation's Mergers and Acquisition Group. Tom received his undergraduate degree in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin and his MBA from George Mason University.
Mitri Abou-Rizk, Chief Technology Officer
Mitri worked at Nokia Research Center in Boston for nine years, where he led development of several mobile software
applications, exploring cutting-edge software engineering technology to design the next generation of mobile services. While at Nokia,
Mitri contributed to a number of standard-setting organizations, including the WAP forum (currently OMA), Wireless Village (IMPS) and
RosettaNet – and leading to the development of prototypes and products in all three areas, including the first Nokia micro-browser and
the first Wireless Village IM on Nokia devices. Mitri holds multiple wireless patents for his work on mobile technology. Mitri graduated
from Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and holds a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering
from Boston University.
Greg Hallinan, Vice President of Marketing
Greg has more than 10 years of experience in business and consumer-based marketing, including brand management,
product marketing, and communications strategy. Greg started his career at Intel in strategic marketing, working on the Pentium® III
and Xeon® product launches. He then went on to product management positions at Swell.com and, more recently, led the marketing efforts
at the leading out-of-home interactive entertainment company - NTN Buzztime. Greg earned his Bachelor's degree from the University of
Colorado-Boulder and went on to earn his MBA with honors from the Mendoza College of Business at the University of Notre Dame
Eric Johnston, Vice President of Engineering
Eric brings 10 years of software engineering and new media experience to the Verve Wireless team. At Leap Wireless,
the nation's ninth largest wireless carrier, Eric managed software engineering projects in several different areas, including mobile
media advertising, billing systems, and text messaging. Most recently, Eric was Director of Software Engineering at Lightningcast, Inc.
where he developed a scalable and flexible ad selection engine for answering millions ad requests daily from broadband audio and video
streaming media customers. He also spearheaded development of a video streaming ad insertion solution to meet the unique requirements of
mobile media. Eric is a graduate of the University of Texas' College of Natural Sciences with a B.S. in Computer Sciences.
Kendall Marolda, Vice President of Local Market Development
Kendall brings multiple years of experience in the newspaper business as well as the online industry. She joins Verve from CareerBuilder.com, where she developed and managed unique strategies for integrating the company’s online products and media packages across multiple newspaper markets to enable new revenue generating opportunities. Kendall was also responsible for development, maintenance and measurement of local and industry specific marketing campaigns for CareerBuilder.com. She is a graduate of Portland State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Technical Writing.
